NIH Director, Dr. Francis S. Collins, Visits the New York Genome Center

Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Francis Collins, visited the New York Genome Center (NYGC) on October 19, 2015.

Dr. Collins toured the center and met with an array of NYGC team members to discuss NYGC’s mission, infrastructure, current initiatives and ongoing plans. Faculty members Robert Darnell, Yaniv Erlich, Marcin Imielinski, Dan Landau, Tuuli Lappalainen, Hemali Phatnani and Rahul Satija, discussed their research interests and ongoing projects. NYGC personnel Toby Bloom, Deputy Scientific Director, Informatics; Harold Swerdlow, Vice President, Sequencing; Julia Moore Vogel, Director, Office of the President; and Michael Zody, Research Director, Computational Biology, explained their ongoing work and how it’s helping to build NYGC’s infrastructure and fulfill its mission.
