The New York Genome Center (NYGC) will launch its Summer Evening Talks Series on June 28, 2016 with guest speaker Lucie Bruijn, PhD, MBA, Chief Scientist, ALS Association.
Dr. Bruijn will speak about the impact the ALS Association’s (ALSA) funded research has had on advancing therapies for the disease. Through her work as Chief Scientist at ALSA, Dr. Bruijn leads a global research effort, Translational Research to Advance Therapies for ALS. The overarching goal is to move treatment options from “bench to bedside.”
Dr. Bruijn has made it a priority to closely collaborate with other funding agencies including The National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense and many other not-for-profit ALS organizations, as well as other foundations focusing on neurodegenerative research. It is her belief that only through collaboration among a wide range of disciplines will scientists be successful in changing the course of ALS and eventually finding a cure.
Dr. Bruijn’s lecture is free and open to the public and will take place on Tuesday, June 28 at 6:30 p.m. at NYGC, 101 Avenue of the Americas, between Grand and Watts streets. The talk will be followed by cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, and a chance to meet the speaker.
