Very Rare Cancer Consortium Disease Spotlight & Research Roundtable
Please join us for the Very Rare Cancer Consortium Tumor Board Meeting. This new initiative aims to bring cancer researchers across New York to the table to discuss compelling rare cancer cases presented by physicians and scientists from the New York Genome Center’s partner institutions. DESMOPLASTIC SMALL ROUND CELL TUMOR (DSRCT)
Disease Spotlight & Research Roundtable
This will be a VIRTUAL meeting via Zoom.
Please note registration is required.
Desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT) is a rare and aggressive cancer occurring predominantly in adolescents and young adults. Although DSRCT’s characteristic translocation between the EWSR1 and WT1 genes has been well described, the disease overall remains poorly understood and overall survival for patients with DSRCT remains unacceptably low. Given the rarity of the disease, no randomized trials have been performed and pre-clinical tools in which to study the disease remain limited, making collaborative efforts essential. We will hear from experts about the current understanding of DSRCT, review the many areas in which this understanding could be deepened, and discuss potential collaborations through the VRCC.
