Frank E. Richardson, MA, JD, is a private investor concentrating on direct investments in private and public operating businesses. He is a Co-Founder and Senior Advisory Partner of Sentinel Capital Partners. He was Chairman and Founder of Enterprise NewsMedia, an independent publisher of daily and weekly newspapers in New England, including the Patriot Ledger of Boston. Mr. Richardson was an early organizer of “boot strap” acquisitions, later called “management buyouts” and subsequently “private equity.” From 1986 to 1995, he was a partner in Wesray Capital Partners. Mr. Richardson began his business career as legal counsel at the International Bank for Reconstruction & Development (World Bank).
He is a graduate of Princeton University, AB, Phi Beta Kappa; Oxford University (Magdalen College), Honors MA; and Harvard Law School, JD. Mr. Richardson also completed the first year of the Harvard Medical School in 1961-62, following graduation from Princeton.
He is an Emeritus Trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and former director of the NYU School of Medicine.
Mr. Richardson is a former Director of Alex. Brown, Inc. (lead outside director); Wilson Sporting Goods; Avis, Inc.; Avis Europe; Outlet Communications; and other private companies controlled by Wesray Capital Corporation; Quantum Industrial Holdings (Soros Fund Management); Princeton University Investment Co. and Nassau Capital Corp. (Princeton University Endowment); Metropolitan Opera Guild; Rockefeller Brothers Fund; Magdalen College, Oxford Endowment.
Mr. Richardson is married to the Honorable Kimba M. Wood, Judge of the Federal Court, Southern District of New York.
