Demetra Catalano (former Research Associate) has a BS in Biochemistry from Stony Brook University.  There, under the supervision of Dr. Laurie Krug, she contributed to the development of a CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing system to facilitate the disruption of essential viral genes of murine gammaherpesvirus (MHV68). Her work at NYGC supported the ALS Consortium and a Center for Common Disease Genomics (CCDG) project that aims to identify new variants and target genes that contribute to autism through the alteration of gene expression.
