Minita Shah

Bioinformatics Scientist

Minita Shah joined the New York Genome Center in May 2014. She mainly focuses on structural variant (SV) analysis in cancer. She is especially interested in developing new methods to improve SV discovery and integrating large-scale genomic variants with other types from DNA and RNA. She also develops pipelines for SV prediction and annotation. Previously she worked at Life Technologies for 3.5 years in Massachusetts and California where she analyzed whole-genome, exome and custom panels from the Ion Torrent platform. Minita completed her M.Sc. in Computer Science (specialization in Bioinformatics) at Columbia University in New York and was part of the Itsik Pe’er lab of Computational Genetics where she got her first foray into analyzing sequencing data from the SOLiD (Applied Biosystems) platform.
